    Chief Executive Officer

    Richard Bernstein is the chief executive officer and chief investment officer of Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. In his role as CIO, Rich leads RBA’s Investment Committee, which manages all of the firm’s investments, and performs executive management functions as CEO.

    Mr. Bernstein founded Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC (RBA) in 2009. The firm utilizes a unique top-down approach to investing, focusing on macro trends rather than individual stock selection. Mr. Bernstein has over 35 years' experience on Wall Street, most recently as the Chief Investment Strategist at Merrill Lynch & Co. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch in 1988, he held positions at E.F. Hutton and Chase Econometrics/IDC.

    A much-noted expert on equity, style and asset allocation, Mr. Bernstein was voted to Institutional Investor magazine's annual "All-America Research Team" eighteen times, and is one of only fifty-seven analysts inducted into the Institutional Investor "Hall of Fame". He was also twice named to both Fortune magazine's "All-Star Analysts" and to Smart Money magazine's "Power 30", and was a member of Registered Rep's  "Ten to Watch" for 2012. His book "Style Investing: Unique Insight into Equity Management" is widely viewed as the seminal book on style-oriented investment strategies. He donates the profits from that and his other book, "Navigate the Noise: Investing in the New Age of Media and Hype", to charity.

    Mr. Bernstein is chair of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation endowment's Investment Committee (~$2.0 billion) and sits on the Hamilton College endowment's Investment Committee (~$1 billion); he is a trustee of both institutions. He is also a member of the Journal of Portfolio Management’s Advisory Committee, a Program Reviewer for the CFA Curriculum, and former adjunct faculty of the NYU/Stern Graduate School of Business.

    Rich holds an MBA in finance, with Beta Gamma Sigma distinction, from New York University, and a BA in economics from Hamilton College. He has lectured on finance and economics at numerous colleges, universities and professional forums.

  • John J. McCombe

    President and Director of Distribution

    John J. McCombe is president and director of distribution at Richard Bernstein Advisors. Mr. McCombe oversees the firm’s sales, marketing and communications and also helps to set the firm’s overall strategy along with Richard Bernstein. He joined RBA in 2010.

    Before RBA, Mr. McCombe was executive vice president and Director of Retail Sales and Marketing at Cohen & Steers and president of Cohen & Steers Distributors. Over his 13 years there, he was the chief architect of their retail fund and distribution business through the major wire houses and fund supermarkets (RIAs), and was responsible for their marketing, communications and website. Mr. McCombe helped grow Cohen & Steers' assets-under-management from approximately $2 billion when he joined to $35 billion at their peak across open-end funds, closed-end funds and SMAs. He was also instrumental in helping Cohen & Steers go public in 2004.

    Previously, Mr. McCombe spent 14 years at Merrill Lynch in a variety of sales and marketing roles, including, most notably, seven years in "retail syndicate" where he focused on closed-end fund IPOs raising over $70 billion for various asset managers.

    John holds a BS in finance from Fordham University, where he has also taught, and an MBA in accounting from Pace University, and he sits on several not-for-profit boards.

  • Sadie Brubaker

    Executive Assistant and Administrative Manager

    Sadie Brubaker is the Executive Assistant and Administrative Manager at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Sadie is responsible for the overall day-to-day management, organization, and coordination of supportive services to ensure the business runs smoothly and accomplishes its goals on a daily basis.

    Prior to RBA, Mrs. Brubaker was an Executive Assistant and Funds Board Coordinator at Allianz Global Investors.

    Previously, Mrs. Brubaker spent 20 years at Bank of America Merrill Lynch where she provided high level administrative support to various senior executives in human resources, equity sales and prime brokerage sales.

    Sadie is a certified graduate from Katharine Gibbs.

  • Bill Eismann, CIMA®

    Portfolio Specialist

    Bill Eismann is a portfolio specialist for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Bill covers the Western part of the United States.

    Prior to joining RBA, he worked as an Advisor Consultant and ETF Specialist with PIMCO in Newport Beach, CA. Bill also spent several years as a mutual fund Product Specialist for Morgan Stanley in New York City.

    Bill has a B.S. in Business Administration from Rider University and is based in the Los Angeles, CA area. He is a Certified Investment Management Analyst® and is currently pursuing an M.B.A. from the University of Southern California.


  • Sean Gillooley

    Portfolio Specialist

    Sean Gillooley, CIMA®, AIF®, is a portfolio specialist for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Sean covers Metro New York City and Long Island.

    Sean was most recently, Senior Director – Wealth Management for Principal Global Investors and has held positions with Cohen & Steers and BlackRock. Sean has his Certified Investment Management Analyst® designation from the Wharton School and holds the AIF® Certification.

    Sean is a native of New York City having attended Xavier High School and holds a B.S. from Fordham University.

  • Philip Goldfarb

    Director of Trading

    Philip Goldfarb is the director of trading at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Goldfarb manages the trading and execution for all of RBA’s strategies.

    Prior to joining RBA, Mr. Goldfarb was an implementation manager at Charles River Development, with a focus on improving institutional equity trading desks’ workflows. From 1997 to 2009, Mr. Goldfarb held various roles at Goldman Sachs Asset Management, most recently as a vice president and trader on the fundamental equity desk. Phil also performed portfolio construction for fundamental equity portfolios, and held operations management roles at Goldman. Prior to that, he worked in the corporate trust department at The Bank of New York.

    Phil holds a BA from the State University of New York at Albany, an MBA in finance from Fordham University, and an MS in real estate finance from New York University.

  • Matthew Griswold, CFA

    Director of Investments

    Matthew Griswold is the director of investments at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Griswold oversees investment process design and implementation for all investment products. He joined RBA in 2010.

    Before joining RBA, Mr. Griswold was a vice president and portfolio manager at State Street Global Advisors, with responsibility for the design, execution and evaluation of both new and existing global investment strategies. His extensive portfolio management experience spans most major asset classes and includes both quantitative and fundamental investment disciplines. For almost 20 years, Matt assumed a wide variety of leadership positions within State Street in areas of portfolio construction, research, performance measurement, risk analysis, mutual fund administration and client service.

    Matt holds a BS in industrial management from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder and a member of the Boston Security Analysts Society, INC.

  • Katherine Gross

    Internal Sales Specialist

    Katherine Gross is the Internal Sales Specialist for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Ms. Gross is responsible for supporting the external sales staff. 

    Katherine holds a BA in Economics from Hamilton College.

  • Nicholas Holtzman

    Data Analyst

    Nicholas Holtzman is a Data Analyst for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Holtzman is responsible for supporting the firm’s internal and external data and performance analyses as well as ensuring that internal and external databases are updated, accurate, and consistent across multiple platforms.

    Nicholas holds a BA in Art History and a BM in Jazz Performance from Oberlin College & Conservatory of Music.

  • Lisa Kirschner

    Director of Research

    Lisa Kirschner is the director of research at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Ms. Kirschner spearheads the firm’s top-down macroeconomic analysis, proprietary research and is a senior member of the RBA Investment Committee.

    Ms. Kirschner has worked with Richard Bernstein since 1995. She was a member of Mr. Bernstein's top-ranked Quantitative Strategy Team at Merrill Lynch for ten years, with a primary focus on in-depth data analysis, and then continued working in a more senior role on his Investment Strategy Team until April 2009.

    Ms. Kirschner co-authored numerous market studies and analyses with Mr. Bernstein while at Merrill, drawing on her expertise in corporate-earnings analysis and performance attribution to assist in the formulation of the team's investment strategies. Her public speaking roles included presentations for the Merrill Lynch Women's Leadership Conference Series and the Quantitative Work Alliance for Applied Finance, Education and Wisdom. She was Merrill Lynch's representative to Standard & Poor's Index Advisory Panel from 1999-2009.

    Lisa attended both Indiana University and New York University.

  • Timothy Kuhn

    Portfolio Specialist

    Timothy Kuhn is a portfolio specialist for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC.  Tim Covers the Central part of the United States.

    Prior to joining RBA, he worked in distribution for the Asset Management division of Deutsche Bank.  Tim also spent several years as a Financial Advisor for Merrill Lynch in the St. Louis, MO area.

    Tim has a BS from Drury University and he is based in the Chicago, IL area. 

  • Michael Meyer

    Chief Compliance Officer

    Michael H. Meyer is the chief compliance officer of Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC.

    Mr. Meyer began his career in 1987 at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he was recruited for the firm's Operations Training Program. He spent ten years in Goldman's Global Operations Division, focusing on both institutional and high-net-worth client groups. After completing an overseas assignment in Goldman's Tokyo office, he spent his next seven years at the firm as a vice president in the Equities Compliance Department, covering the Institutional Sales & Trading and the Global Securities Services groups.

    Immediately prior to joining RBA, Mr. Meyer was a director in the compliance department of Citigroup's Institutional Client Group for five years. During his tenure there, he had compliance responsibility for the Prime Finance Group, which included the bank's Prime Brokerage, Stock Loan, Synthetic Finance and Middle Office departments. His responsibilities included advising and training the franchise businesses on a day-to-day basis, drafting and implementing policies and procedures, interacting with internal and external counsel, and coordinating and participating in various internal and external regulatory exams.

    Mike holds a BA in economics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

  • Terrance R. Ober

    National Director - Portfolio Specialists Group

    Terrance R. Ober is national director - portfolio specialists group with Richard Bernstein Advisors. Mr. Ober covers the Northeastern part of the United States.

    Before RBA, Mr. Ober was a regional vice president for ING U.S. Investment Management.  Prior to joining ING in 2012, he was senior vice president, portfolio specialist with Cohen & Steers Capital Management. Terrance has over 23 years of investment experience.

    Terry has a BS from Babson College in Wellesley, MA. He is based in the Boston, MA area.

  • Matthew Poterba, CFA

    Senior Analyst

    Matthew R. Poterba is a senior analyst at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Poterba is responsible for top-down macroeconomic research.

    Before joining RBA, Mr. Poterba was an associate analyst at NERA Economic Consulting where he worked in the securities and finance practice. While at NERA, Matt performed valuations of fixed income and derivative products in litigation matters.

    Matt holds a BA in mathematics and economics from Hamilton College and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder.

  • Amanda Pothin

    Marketing Associate

    Amanda Pothin is the Marketing Associate for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Ms. Pothin is responsible for supporting the marketing, media relations, communications and platform/partner relationship management for RBA.

    Prior to joining RBA, Ms. Pothin spent 6 years as a marketing manager for Bank of America Merrill Lynch supporting the company’s wealth management initiatives.

    Amanda holds a BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from Colgate University.

  • Michael Quinn

    Internal Sales Specialist

    Michael Quinn is the Internal Sales Specialist for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr Quinn is responsible for supporting the external sales staff in the Southeast and Midwest region.

    Before joing RBA, Michael worked as a Financial Advisor at Hennion & Walsh Inc in Parsipany, NJ.  While at Hennion & Walsh Inc, Mr. Quinn was responsible for financial planning and advising client investments.

    Michael holds a BS in Accounting and BA in Marketing from Elon University. He was a part of the Elon University football team where he served as the team captain and quarterback for two years.

  • John Reagan

    Chief Technology Officer

    John Reagan is the chief technology officer of Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC, responsible for IT systems and administrative processes.

    Prior to joining RBA, Mr. Reagan was a vice president at JPMorgan Chase in their Investor Services division. Over his 14 years with JPMC, John held various positions in technology and product management.

    Before joining JPMorgan Chase as an IT consultant in 1995, Mr. Reagan worked at Bankers Trust Company as a technology manager in its Retirement Services division.

    John holds a BE in engineering management and an MS in technology management from Stevens Institute of Technology.

  • Jordan Rosen

    Director of Marketing

    Jordan Rosen is the director of marketing for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Rosen oversees the marketing, media relations, communications and platform/partner relationship management for RBA.

    Prior to joining RBA, Mr. Rosen was a premier marketing associate with UBS Wealth Management Americas.  While at UBS, Mr. Rosen was responsible for supporting the client facing marketing and communication needs for the firm's top financial advisors.

    Jordan holds a BA in political science from Rutgers University.

  • Vince Scozzari

    Portfolio Analyst

    Vincent Scozzari is a Portfolio Analyst at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Scozzari is responsible for assisting with portfolio construction, risk management, and ETF research.

    Before joining RBA, Mr. Scozzari was an Analytics Consultant at FactSet Research Systems. While at FactSet, Vincent consulted with portfolio managers and analysts on tools that assist with portfolio, quantitative, and risk analysis.

    Vincent holds a BSBA in Finance and Management from Elon University and has passed all three levels of the CFA Exam.

  • Dan Suzuki, CFA

    Portfolio Strategist

    Dan Suzuki is the portfolio strategist at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. In his role, Dan is a senior member of the RBA Investment Committee and is responsible for portfolio strategy, asset allocation, investment management and marketing to major wirehouses and independent RIAs.

    Prior to joining RBA, Dan worked at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch in Global Research for over 15 years, during a portion of which he worked closely with Rich Bernstein and Lisa Kirschner (RBA’s Director of Research). Most recently, Dan was a senior equity strategist, where in addition to his in-depth analysis on valuation and sectors, he authored regular publications on the S&P 500® EPS Outlook and US Small and Mid-Cap Strategy. Prior to working in strategy, Dan was a fundamental equity research analyst covering the Business Services sector. He is a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg TV and is often quoted in leading financial publications including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and Barron's.

    Dan holds a BS in economics from Duke University, and has been a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder since 2006.

  • Barbara Tarbel

    Chief Financial Officer

    Barbara Tarbel is the chief financial officer at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC.  Mrs. Tarbel oversees all finance, accounting, treasury and human resource functions.

    Prior to joining RBA in 2009, Barbara was the chief financial officer at JDS Capital Management LLC.  While at JDS, Mrs. Tarbel was responsible for the firm's finance and accounting.  Mrs. Tarbel began her career on Wall Street at Cowen & Co., where she worked as a trader in the asset management division.

    Barbara holds a BS in finance from the University of Connecticut and an MBA in finance from Pace University.


  • Henry Timmons, CFA

    Director of ETFs

    Henry Timmons is the director of ETFs at Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Mr. Timmons is responsible for asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management and ETF research.

    Before joining RBA, Mr. Timmons was a portfolio manager and quantitative analyst at Grantham, Mayo, Van Otterloo & Co. LLC. While at GMO, Mr. Timmons evaluated quantitative and fundamental sources of alpha as potential inputs to the investment process, while assisting in constructing and managing portfolios. Prior to GMO, Mr. Timmons was a management consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, where he designed forecasting models improving supply-chain management processes for various clients.

    Henry holds a BS in mechanical engineering and an MEng in systems engineering and engineering management from Cornell University, and an MBA in finance from Cornell University's SC Johnson College of Business. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder.

  • Evan Zlotnick

    Portfolio Specialist

    Evan Zlotnick is a portfolio specialist for Richard Bernstein Advisors LLC. Evan covers the South East part of the United States.

    Prior to joining RBA, Evan was Vice President at Nuveen Investments responsible for the distribution of ETFs, UITs and Closed End Funds throughout Florida and Puerto Rico. Prior to joining Nuveen, he was Regional Vice President for Incapital LLC and also spent several years a Financial Advisor for John Hancock Financial Network in Boca Raton, FL.

    Evan has a B.S from Florida State University, and is based in the South Florida area.
